Economic Geography
This research programme aims to develop Evolutionary Economic Geography both theoretically and empirically. By taking an explicit dynamic perspective, Evolutionary Economic Geography complements neoclassical and institutional modes of analysis in economic geography. Evolutionary Economic Geography explains the spatial evolution of firms, industries, networks, cities, and regions from the elementary processes of the entry, growth, exit, and (re-)location of firms. Main theoritical resources are evelutionary economics, small business economics and social network theory. The programme has four themes:
1)
The locational behaviour of firms2)
The spatial evolution of industries3))
The spatial evolution of networks4)
The evolution of urban and regional economies
The Section of Economic Geography provides a Working Paper Series on Evolutionary Economic Geography
(PEEG). The goal of the series is to promote the use of evolutionary economics in the field of economic geography.
